What is art licensing?
Art licensing is the rental of artwork from a designer. You pay a fee to use one of my surface patterns in a particular way, for a defined purpose and period, under terms we agree. A licence can be non-exclusive or exclusive.

Where can I view your portfolio?
I don’t have a separate portfolio at present. Almost every design in my Spoonflower store is available to license non-exclusively, and the store shows the style I can develop for exclusive use. If you have a project in mind, submit a licensing enquiry.

What is a non-exclusive licence?
A non-exclusive licence allows you to use an existing design for production and sale, usually within one product category. The same design may be licensed to other brands during your term, and may remain available through print on demand partners such as Spoonflower, where others can buy it for personal use.

Note: you do not need a licence to sell finished goods made with fabric bought from Spoonflower or other retail partners.

What is an exclusive licence?
An exclusive licence means the design will not be licensed to anyone else within your nominated category and timeframe. Duration, product category and pricing are agreed before any work begins. I retain copyright and may license the same design in other categories unless we agree otherwise. At the end of the term, you have the first right to renew before the design becomes available again.

Who owns the copyright?
I retain copyright in my designs and any derivative works. I do not offer full buyouts at this stage.

How much does a licence cost?
Licences are quoted case by case. Pricing depends on the type of licence, duration, product category and scale of production. Submit a licensing enquiry and I will provide a quote for your project.

Can you customise the colours?
For most of my artwork, yes. Include your palette preferences in the form, or email swatches or reference images.

Are your designs seamless?
Yes. All designs repeat seamlessly on all four sides and are ready for continuous printing.

Can you provide layered artwork?
Yes. Tell me if your manufacturer needs a layered file format and I will prepare the artwork to suit.
